Tiny Triuumps 36!

This week both boys are at Grandma's house. I miss them. I am not used to not having a kid around. Jared and I have even gone out to dinner alone! We are planning a movie tomorrow night. It won't even be rated PG. I have been busy this week and am getting a lot done!

1. Jared and I went out on a date!

2. I have made Dilly Beans, Bread and Butter Pickles, Zucchini Bread, Blueberry Jam, Peach Jam, Blueberry Spice Jam, Canned Sliced Peaches, Dried Bananas, Dried Mangoes, Dried Cherries, and more! I will have to post a pic of all that I have done! Thanks Kate for teaching me!

3. Jared is going to begin work on a shelf to hold all my canning that I have done.

4. The boys are having a good time at Grandma's!

Have a good week!

Do Brown Cows Make Chocolate Milk?

On Wednesday night Ethan and I went and "helped" Kate milk her parents cows! I have never seen it done or even tried to do it. This was a new experience for me. I was nervous because the cows are HUGE. But, I was glad that it was done by a milking machine. Also, I only have limited experience with beef cattle. And let me tell you that beef cattle and milkers are so different. We even got to see the new baby cows and cats, kittens and a bunch of other animals. We were all dirty when it was done but we all had some fun.

While we were moving the cows into the parlor all of the kids got stuck in a mud puddle. It was funny to watch all three of them loose their boots and have to walk in the mud in their socks. Some really pretty looking roosters

More herding. While we were out there we noticed that one of the cows had given birth that day. I helped get the calf into the calf barn. And I even got to name her. Her mom's name is Cash so her name had to start with C. Her Daddy's name is Sultan. So I thought Sultan with a gem and searched for a gem name that started with C. So I would like to introduce you to.........
Folklore Farms Sultan's Citrine. Like the orange gem. I think it fits cause she is kind of orange

Hey aren't you gonna get to milking me?
The milking parlor where I spent at least an hour with Kate! I cleaned them, put the milking thing on them, undid the milking thing, and dipped them after. I also helped feed them. Ethan and the kids filled the feed buckets for us!

All in all a great night! I had fun and learned something. Kate said that I could come and help again and I think I will.

The answer to my title is NO! I was so sad that it was not true. But I did get to taste some fresh milk from that morning that was cold. It was so different than the stuff that you get in the stores.

A Day At The Beach

On Sunday Jared and I took Ethan to Nepco Park for a picnic and some time in the lake. It was kind of chilly out but that did not stop Ethan or me from going into the lake. Ethan had a blast and wants to go again.Ethan walking in the water.

Tiny Triumphs 35

WOW! What a week it has been! Not super busy but enough going on that I am not bored. I have been learning a few new things this week and I love it! We even planned a visit with some friends in Fort for August. I can't believe a few of the things that I have done this week!

1. Ethan and I helped milk cows! Kate had to milk for her parents so we "helped" I don't know how much help we were but hey we tried. Now, if you know me this is a HUGE thing for me to do. I hate to get dirty and am not a farm girl. I am a city girl through and through. So you can see how this is a big thing for me.

2. Kate is going to teach me how to can fruits and vegetables. I have wanted to learn and today and the rest of the week is the day. I am so excited! We are going to do Raspberry Jam, Blueberry Jam, Pickles, Dilly Beans, Dilled Carrots, and Corn Relish. Plus, a few other things. I can't wait to either give it as gifts or eat it through the year.

3. Ethan and I have been doing a few things at home. I taught him how to sew a straight line on the sewing machine. Now, this is even hard for me to do. I seem to want to go fast and get it done. With the sewing machine out I have actually been working on my T-Shirt quilt and have done quite a lot. Ethan and I made a door stop and have been gardening quite a bit. We also have been playing games and reading quite a bit!

4. The litter is still being scooped.

Now, I warn you that next week both boys will be at Grandma Schumacher's house for ten days. So Tiny Triumphs will be all about me and Jared. I don't know what we are going to do but it should be fun!

Have a great week!

I Am A Winner!

I know I am always a winner! And very modest too! I entered the Sprig outdoor activities and I have won! Now, I did not win the grand prize but my idea was so good that they decided to give me a prize too! Check out the ideas HERE. Scroll down to the bottom to see my idea. There were also some very good ideas by other people. I won a Garden Keepers set. I can't wait to see it! I think I will put it away and pull it out when I have to give a gift. Since I think my boys are to old to really want to play with it. HERE is a link to what it looks like. I can't wait to see it!

I just wanted to share!

Have a good week!

Another week has gone by. This summer is speeding by. I don't know if that is good or bad. I always remember summer when I was a kid as being long. Now as an adult it seems so short. There is so much left that I want to do. So I hope that I get to it all. Camping would be great! As would swimming in a pool or a lake. I also have many places around here that I would love to check out. I will keep you updated as to what gets done.

On with the triumphs!

1. K.C. is getting used to the house and Lily. Even Lily seems to be making progress on getting used to K.C. I even took K.C. to the vet and got some things taken care of. Since he was a farm kitten there was worms and ear mites. We got those taken care of and have appointments for him to get his shots. Also, in about six weeks he will be getting neutered.

2. We planted some bushes in the front of the house. We had taken out the ugly ones that were here when we moved in. I don't know what they were but I found them ugly.

3. Jared and Mike took out the lilacs that were in the backyard. I love lilacs but the backyard is so shaded that they would not do very well. So on Sunday Jared and Mike cut them down! The place where they used to be looks empty but will soon be filled. We have plans to put in a pond in that corner!

4. The litter is still being scooped!

5. Kate taught Ethan and I how to stick weave. Ethan seems to really enjoy doing it. He will do some weaving every night. It seems to calm him down when I know he needs a minute or two to collect himself.

I hope all have a good week!

The Splash Pad and Other Fun!

On Friday, Kate was going into Wausau so Ethan and I hitched a ride. We went to a place called the Splash Pad. It really is a neat place for the kids to play. I like the fact that there is no standing water to drown in! I also like that it is only 50 cents a person to get in for as long as you want to play! Logan had a class at the museum so he did not get to splash with us. Ethan and Becca had a good time together.Dr. Logan is in!

Kellen's Birthday Party

On Sunday July 4th we celebrated Kellen's 11th birthday! I have a hard time believing that he is that old. As my Dad put it "You really are getting old April." Thanks Dad! Anyways, it rained off and on all day. So we did the outside stuff when we could. We did a pinata and some small fireworks. Later, since it was raining we sat on our front porch and watched the show! I love that I can see them from our house. All we missed was the ground show. The pinata before the kids broke it. I broke down and bought one instead of making one
