Let Winter Begin!

That evil W (winter) word has just begun and I am already sick of it. Over the weekend we had a grand total of 17 inches of the evil S word dump on us. Snow, not the other S word. Now this would not be bad if we had bought the snow blower that we wanted. So poor Jared had to shovel it all. I did help when I could but well to be honest I do not like it. So I stayed warm and wrapped presents. Jared hates that more that shoveling he told me. So we both did what we hated less. The kids loved playing in the snow and have plans for a snow fort. I am left wondering where all the water will go when it melts. Will my driveway be a mud pit? I guess I will ponder those questions as it gets a bit closer to spring.
So on with the pictures.

Now I have to say that at the old place they would have called school if we got this much snow on a weekend. It did not stop snowing until Sunday late morning. There were even wind chill warnings and the schools all the way up North here had school. I was disappointed that I did not get another day with the boys but I was also glad that they were out of the house. Did you ever notice that when the kids are stuck inside for two days any cleaning that is done is instantly reversed?

Well, on the bright side we will have a VERY white Christmas!

Tiny Triumphs 54!

I am right on time this week! Sometimes I even amaze myself! With the Holidays approaching things on the blog might slow down. Jared and I have a few parties that we need to have fun at.


1. Kellen seems to be recovering from the cold that he had earlier in the week. When Kellen gets sick he acts like he is dying. He walks around moaning and groaning. So him getting better is a HUGE thing to me. Plus, I always hate it when my babies are sick and I can't do a lot for them.

2. The boys are excited about the snow. I can't say as I am as excited. They can't wait to find a hill to sled on!

3. Jared and I took an inventory of all the food that we have in the freezer. This was a HUGE job. We have two chest freezers full of food plus the one in the kitchen is full. We also have a third freezer downstairs waiting to be filled up with the half of cow that we bought! So I will only have to go shopping for the small things for the next few week!

4. The litter is still being taken care of. Minus a few issues that we have had.

Tiny Triumphs 53!!!! (REALLY late)

Okay, I am sorry yet again! I am really late on this. I have been getting a lot done around the house. Also, I think I should mention that Facebook takes up some of my time. Hello, my name is April, and I am addicted to Facebook. There that is better! I feel there is a New Year's resolution in my future that has to do with that!

1. The boys put up, put the lights on, and decorated our tree by themselves this year! They say it looks better than ever! I have to agree! Watching them do it all was fun for Jared and I. It made me step back and see that my boys are growing up. I did help a bit with the selection of the ornaments though. We have a kitty that can't leave anything alone so they all had to be unbreakable.

2. I made a turkey dinner last week! Jared and I usually make one ourselves after Thanksgiving so that we can have some awesome left overs. We have had sandwiches that are so good! Also, I made Turkey Ala King. I did this from scratch and the boys loved it! I can see this as a staple in our house!

3. We are almost done with Christmas shopping! I think I have three more people to buy for! And my boys too! I can't wait to do it this year! The boys are at such a fun age, no more baby stuff for us!

4. The litter is still being scooped!

Since I was late I will give you a few extras!

5. Kellen's French Horn practice actually sounds more like music now! I can actually hear a song and sing with it!

6. Ethan and I are reading a lot lately! He seems to be getting better to me.

7. Jared and I went to another M.A.S.H. meeting! I actually let beer connoisseurs taste what we had made. And it seemed that everyone liked what we made!

Gobble, Gobble, Gobble!

Man, That Turkey Looks Good!

Today, I made cupcakes for Thanksgiving! I made them to look like Turkeys. I used my cake decorating skills to make them! I think they turned out very well!A close up

I'm a Little Acorn........

Last night I made some acorn cookies for the boys to take to school before Thanksgiving Break. The boys loved them and so did their classes! They were easy too!First, unwrap the kisses
Next, get the mini nilla wafers ready
"Glue" the kisses to the wafers with a dab of chocolate icing. I used my icing bags and tips to do this. It made it easier on me.
Then you put a tiny dot of icing on top for the stem. Again, I used a small circle icing tip to do this part. And there you have an acorn! I made about 200 of these in about half an hour. It took longer for Ethan and I to unwrap the kisses than it took me to put them together. I also used chocolate butter cream icing. The store bought stuff is a bit too loose to hold these together. You can buy small tubes of it by the cake decorating supplies.


When I used to teach preschool there was a song I used to sing around this time of the year with the kids about acorns.

I'm a little acorn
Small and round
Lying on the cold cold ground
No one wants to pick me up
Cause I'm such a little NUT!

This was always done while curled up in a ball on the floor! Give it a shot! And while you are at it get a picture taken of you doing it and send it to me. That way I can get a laugh in!

Tiny Triumphs 52!

Well, this week has been wonderful! Busy but fun! I am posting this now because Thanksgiving is on Thursday! I plan on being in a food and drink coma for most of the day. I am sure that my Aunt and Uncle will see to that!

1. Kellen is still doing All City Band. He goes for almost an hour every Monday. He is still playing the French Horn every day!

2. Our beer turned out great! We have a Cream Ale and a Pumpkin Ale that are ready for Thanksgiving! We finally got the carbonation right!

3. Ethan is trying to read as much as he can!

4. The litter is still being taken care of!
